2 Health Care Delivery Models and Nursing Practice

The health care reform act has focused on health promotion and prevention. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) offers incentives to develop, test, and evaluate new delivery systems. The nurse's voice is a necessity to this process, as well as in the definition of the role of the nurse concerning advocacy, care coordination, quality improvement, safety, and involvement in education for emerging trends in health care (American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing, 2018). This paper will discuss the effects the law has had on nursing practice and responsibility, the impact of pay for performance on nursing, trends, and the changes to nursing leadership and management roles. Emerging Law and Effects H.R. 728, also known as Title VIII Nursing Workforce Reauthorization Act of 2019, is aimed to improve education, practice, and the retention of nurses. This law offers programs that will enhance the delivery of nursing care, nursing services, and looks to the well-being of nurses in America (Title VIII of the Public Health Service Act) The goal of this bill is to provide more opportunities for nurses to gain responsibility, grow in there scope of practice and have more satisfaction overall in their position. H.R. 728 will help align the nursing workforce with the current trends in the profession. Nurses receive support through Title VIII to continue their education as well as receive support in rural and underserved communities (American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), 2019).
